Giving and receiving

Image
"Give without remembering. Receive without forgetting." -Chad Hymas If i'm interpreting this quote right, i take it to mean not to keep score and not to feel like people owe you anything because you gave of your substance, time or anything to them.   And i love the receiving without forgetting, living in thanksgiving daily.  This photo reminds me of the sweet gesture of Lanning bringing home flowers for Valentine's day to fill my vase Lizzy gave me for Christmas.  And the little rose on the left was a sweet gesture from the Sunbeams class in primary.  In the background is a beautiful blue and white serving tray that Amy gifted me.  Gratitude is powerful in many ways.

Today well lived...

Image
"Today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope.  Look well, therefore, to this day." -Indian Proverb This quote has been on my mind lately. I really think it is true. If I'm making good choices this day, i remember the past with fondness and i recognize the good and i feel more hope for the future. In contrast, if i'm not making good choices this day, even with just allowing negative thoughts, regrets from the past creep in and fear and anxiety for the future do too. Makes me see the scripture "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve..." in a new way.  It doesn't matter so much what i chose in the past for good or bad, but this day is what counts.  Each day i want to choose to serve the Lord and not the distractions of the world.

Something beyond ourselves...

"Id never dated a guy who was so passionate about something beyond me or himself.  It was clear that Andre's first priority was not me; it was his relationship with Jesus Christ.  That made him all the more attractive to me."  -Sydney Mclaughlin (about her husband) I just finished reading her book about her life, her running career, and her relationship with God that helped her overcome living life in fear and replace it with faith. It's inspiring.  I think it's called. "Far beyond gold" or something like that. My eighth grade daughter has been reading it too.

you're not alone

"Fear arises when we imagine that everything depends on us" -Elisabeth Elliot (trek 2024) When Henry was leaving for a basketball camp last summer, he was going with coaches and players but not a lot of supervision.  I said to him, "I don't know about this, who is going to watch over you while you're gone?"  He rplied, "God will"  so with that answer, i let you him go!

Run for God

"My Jesus things" -Abigail

"Behold, my soul delighteth in the things of the Lord; and my heart pondereth continually upon the things which I have seen and heard." -Nephi "The stories of Jesus shared over and over bring faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and strength to the foundation of testimony.  Can you think of a more valuable gift for our children?" -Elder Neil L. Andersen At church on Sunday Abigail received her emblem of  belonging ring.  It was a little loose, so we had to tighten it a bit.  That evening i noticed it wasn't on her finger anymore so i asked if it fell off.  She said, "Oh, i put it with my Jesus things"  So then she showed me where she keeps her "Jesus things" on her dresser.  So endearing!!
