Run to the Primary!

Image
Before I read this experience of Sister Wright i thought the primary was such a place of warmth, spirit, and even healing! I love that her husband counseled Bishop's to go to primary when they are feeling overwhelmed. It really is good for the soul to sit with and sing with the little ones of the church.

Act on the promptings of the Spirit

We had the meaningful opportunity of meeting Elder Gong when he came to speak at an evening devotional.  We felt the hand of God in that meeting, both the one of greeting by Elder Gong but also the one of listening to his message of Christ.

Get caught living what you preach...

"More is caught than taught!" I've been hearing this quote a lot lately. It 's so true! We, especially children, learn more by example than by lecture. I'm grateful to my parents for allowing me to "catch" them living what they preach.  They've taught me to pray, personally and as a family.  I often wandered into their room when i was a child and would see one or both of them kneeling by their bed in prayer.  They also nurtured their marriage relationship and treated each other with kindness and respect, seeing this instilled in me a desire to marry in the temple and nurture relationships.  They work hard, they are kind, they love the Lord and show it and share it by example.

Sustain means to uphold...

This quote has changed the way i view "sustaining" others in their callings in the church and also the way i view my own calling.  I definitely don't think that i'm the most qualified to serve as the primary president, but it is reassuring to know that others are sustaining me in my calling. I'm learning i can't do it alone!

A call to contribute and offer what we can

Serving in a leadership calling in our Primary has definitely been out of my comfort zone.  I often think of so many others that would be "better" at fulfilling this responsibility.  This quote, however, has been a comfort to me and has helped me to serve (even clumsily) the best that i can.
